NBC’s Chicago P.D. is set to conclude its twelfth season with a momentous episode titled “Vows,” airing on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10/9c. Long-time partners Detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) prepare to tie the knot, while the Intelligence Unit faces unprecedented challenges.
The wedding of Burgess and Ruzek, affectionately dubbed “Burzek” by fans, has been a storyline twelve seasons in the making. The ceremony is set in a traditional church setting, marking the series’ first formal wedding. Their daughter, Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams), plays a special role in the event, adding to the emotional depth of the occasion. Actress Marina Squerciati engaged fans in selecting Burgess’s wedding dress, incorporating their feedback into the final design.
However, the nuptials unfold against a backdrop of turmoil. The Intelligence Unit is under investigation by Internal Affairs, forced to cease official operations. Determined to bring down Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy), the team operates off-book, leading to a high-stakes confrontation that tests their unity and resolve.
Despite the chaos, the wedding proceeds, symbolizing hope and resilience. The ceremony includes appearances by key characters such as Ruzek’s father, Bob (Jack Coleman), and colleague Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins). The episode balances the personal joy of the wedding with the professional peril faced by the team.
