Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald is teasing bigger conflict, more romance complications and heightened drama heading into Season 12.
In an exclusive interview with Parade, MacDonald said the NBC drama plans to “push even harder” next season following the Season 11 finale cliffhanger involving Sharon Goodwin’s future at Gaffney Medical Center.
“There will be conflict, there will be medical stories, there will be unrequited love,” MacDonald told Parade. “I just think that dramatically we’re going to push even harder next year.”
The Season 11 finale left Goodwin facing major uncertainty after tensions with the hospital board escalated, setting up what appears to be a significant power struggle inside Gaffney Medical Center when the series returns this fall.
MacDonald also confirmed to Parade that both S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt will return for Season 12.
Chicago Med remains part of the NBC’s One Chicago Wednesday lineup alongside Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D..
