Chicago-made Dark Matter beats Fallout on streaming charts

Dark Matter

The Apple TV Plus sci-fi drama Dark Matter has quickly risen to the top of the streaming charts, surpassing popular titles like Fallout. According to data from Reelgood, Dark Matter is currently the most-streamed TV show for the week starting May 9, just days after its premiere on May 8.

Based on Blake Crouch’s best-selling novel, Dark Matter stars Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor, and family man who is abruptly thrust into an alternate version of his life. Alongside Edgerton, Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly plays a pivotal role in the series.

The show follows Dessen as he navigates the complexities of this new reality, striving to return to his original life while uncovering the mystery behind his abduction.

Dark Matter‘s rapid ascent to the top of the streaming charts is notable given the competition from other highly anticipated shows like Fallout, Baby Reindeer, and A Man in Full. Not only did it top the TV show category, but it also led the overall streaming chart, which includes both TV shows and movies.

The novel Dark Matter was acclaimed as one of the best sci-fi books of the decade, setting high expectations for the TV adaptation.

The series has captivated audiences with its gripping storyline and strong performances, promising to maintain its popularity as more episodes are released. The season finale is scheduled to air on June 26.
