For 120 years, The Chicago Lighthouse has helped people who are blind, visually impaired, or disabled build fuller, more independent lives. Now, a new campaign from Brand Imagination Group gives that sprawling legacy one clear creative idea: “Lighting Up Human Potential.”

It’s also this week’s Reel Ad of the Week.

The integrated platform was created to unify The Chicago Lighthouse’s work across vision care, education, employment, assistive technology, independent living and social services while giving donors a more emotional, human understanding of what their support makes possible.

At the center of the campaign is a 30-second brand anthem featuring real Chicago Lighthouse clients across generations. The film opens on a young girl navigating a colorful playground with a white cane as the words “A film about human potential” appear on screen with Braille dots beneath them. From there, the piece moves through scenes of people learning, working, using technology and navigating their communities with confidence.

The spot closes on the Chicago skyline with the line: “The Chicago Lighthouse. Lighting Up Human Potential.” Watch below:

What makes the work effective is its refusal to reduce the organization to a single service or emotional beat. Instead, it frames The Lighthouse as something that can shape an entire life — from childhood learning and mobility to literacy, employment, technology, family life and independence.

“This was bigger than a simple awareness film or fundraising campaign,” said Barry Krause, founder and CEO of Brand Imagination Group. “The Lighthouse needed one unifying idea to carry 120 years of impact forward.”

That lifetime perspective extends into two donor-focused films.

One centers on Tommy, showing how Lighthouse services can expand independence and opportunity. Another follows Peter, a vice president at The Lighthouse who has benefited from its programs since childhood, creating a direct connection between donor support and long-term human impact.

The campaign also extends into a business-to-business effort for Lighthouse Enterprises, The Chicago Lighthouse’s social business contact-center operation.

“Light Up Your Contact Center” targets companies looking to improve customer service while also supporting The Lighthouse’s employment mission. The operation includes 650 trained agents handling more than four million callers annually.

Dr. Janet P. Szlyk, president and CEO of The Chicago Lighthouse, said the work succeeds because it brings the organization’s many programs together without losing the individual people behind them.

“The platform shows donors how their support creates opportunity, independence and progress across a lifetime,” Szlyk said.

The broader campaign includes digital display, banners, Meta in-feed and Story units, carousels and donation calls to action. Media planning from KSM spans connected and linear television, programmatic display, paid social, Meta and LinkedIn.

Since 1906, The Chicago Lighthouse has served people who are blind, visually impaired or disabled, as well as veterans. Today, the organization reaches more than 50,000 people each year. The strength of “Lighting Up Human Potential” is that it doesn’t ask audiences to admire an institution simply because it has survived 120 years.

It shows what those 120 years have meant in human terms.

That’s why it earns this week’s Reel Ad of the Week.
