Chicago Independent Producers Lab accepting applications for 2022

Full Spectrum Features has opened applications for the 2022 Chicago Independent Producers Lab, a nine-month project incubator designed to cultivate inclusive, diverse voices in Chicago’s independent film industry.

The lab, in partnership with the Chicago Film Office, offers industry mentorship, ongoing organizational support, and practical training delivered through immersive workshops.

To apply, producers must have optioned or own the rights to a feature-length, narrative screenplay and must be a lead producer on the project. Selected participants are then put through a rigorous, hands-on development process intended to equip producers with vital career experience and to bring their projects to production viability. Immersive workshops emphasize the connections between the film, the film’s makers, and the film’s intended audience, with each workshop focusing on different aspects of creative entrepreneurship including development, business and legal, pitching investors, and more.

The application deadline is on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 6pm. To help potential applicants learn more about the application and program, Full Spectrum Features and the Chicago Film Office will hold information sessions on December 15, 2021 at 6pm and January 7, 2022 at 12pm. The Chicago Independent Producers Lab is made possible by the support of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, and a Project Innovation Grant from the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation.
