Multiple reports confirm that production on NBC’s Chicago Fire was temporarily halted after a gunman fired several rounds nearby. None of the cast or crew was injured.
With three cameras running, the popular One Chicago series was in the middle of an exterior shot on the West Side at A.A. Rayner and Sons Funeral Home, 5911 West Madison, when a man began shooting from the opposite corner.
CWB Chicago, who broke the story, reports the gunman, described as “a Black male with braids,” emerged from an alley and fired. He then fled in a black SUV.
A gunman opened fire just steps from where the Chicago Fire TV show was filming on the West Side this afternoon. No injuries reported. No arrests made. It’s the latest in a string of scares for the Chicago film industry.https://t.co/z9YYw8fe8N

An NBC source told Reel Chicago, “Chicago Fire’s security protocols were activated immediately and production was halted for the day.”
No one was injured and talk about damaged equipment is false. Chicago police, who reportedly had six marked squad cars on the scene, is currently investigating.
Today’s incident follows several others that have happened in the area of national productions this summer. FX’s limited series, Justified: Primeval, temporarily shut down filming in July after a gunfire exchange between two cars. The cast and crew were safe.
This story is still developing.
