Warning: Possible Chicago Fire Season 15 spoilers ahead.
Production is underway on Season 15 of Chicago Fire, and new photos from the Chicago set may have revealed which characters survive the explosive Season 14 finale.
As reported by FanSided, several cast members were recently photographed with fans outside the real Chicago firehouse used as the exterior of Firehouse 51. Because the actors appeared to be dressed in character while filming, the images have fueled speculation about who makes it out of last season’s disastrous final call alive.
Season 14 ended with nearly the entire Firehouse 51 team in danger. Stella Kidd, Sal Vasquez, Christopher Herrmann and Lyla Ballard were attempting to escape from a burning rooftop when an explosion engulfed the area and caused the structure to collapse.
Inside the building, Kelly Severide, Joe Cruz, Randy “Mouch” McHolland, Capp and Tony were left trapped as Mayday calls came across the radio.
The cliffhanger immediately prompted speculation that Season 15 could open with the death of a major character.
Set Photos Offer Clues
Fan photos circulating on social media appear to show Miranda Rae Mayo, Brandon Larracuente, Christian Stolte and David Eigenberg filming at Firehouse 51.

That would strongly suggest that Kidd, Vasquez, Mouch and Herrmann survive the fire.
Kidd’s return was already expected after Mayo reportedly reached a new agreement for Season 15. The apparent presence of Herrmann and Mouch, however, may provide greater relief to longtime viewers.
Both characters have been part of the series since its first season and were widely considered among those most vulnerable heading into the premiere. The finale heightened those fears by including shots of their wives during a montage that seemed to suggest one of the firefighters might not return home.
Joe Minoso was also reportedly seen on set and posed for photographs with fans, suggesting that Joe Cruz survives as well.
Unlike several of his co-stars, however, Minoso was not dressed in his usual Firehouse 51 uniform. He instead appeared in casual clothing, raising questions about whether Cruz may be injured and temporarily unable to return to active duty.
The clothing could also mean the fan interaction occurred before Minoso changed into costume, so any conclusion about Cruz’s condition remains speculative.

Several Fates Remain Uncertain
Four characters involved in the finale were not seen in the circulating fan photos: Severide, Capp, Tony and Ballard.
Severide is expected to survive because Taylor Kinney reportedly signed a new contract to return as a series regular.
Randy Flagler has also posted about returning to set, which suggests Capp may be back. That does not completely confirm the character’s survival, however, since production could still involve scenes tied to the aftermath of the fire.
The greatest uncertainty surrounds Tony, played by Anthony Ferraris, and Ballard, played by Leroy S. Williams III. Neither actor had been spotted or publicly connected to the new season at the time of FanSided’s report.
Ballard may appear especially vulnerable because she is a more recent addition to the ensemble and has not yet become central to the show’s long-term storylines.
Of course, it remains possible that every member of Firehouse 51 survives. Set photos can reveal only so much, and the production may be deliberately keeping certain actors and story developments out of public view.
For now, the images appear to provide encouraging news for fans of Kidd, Vasquez, Herrmann, Mouch and Cruz—while leaving the futures of several others unresolved.
Chicago Fire Season 15 is scheduled to premiere on October 7.
