Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. renewed for 2023-2024 season

Great news for the Chicago production community. Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchises, which include Chicago FireChicago Med and Chicago P.D., were all renewed for the 2023-24 season. Wolf’s Law & Order franchise which comprises Law & OrderLaw & Order: SVU  and L&O: Organized Crime were also renewed.

All six series come from Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment.

2023 – 24 will mark the 12th season for the still-popular Chicago FireChicago PD will enter its 11th season and Chicago Med number nine. Wolf also executive produces CBS’ three-show FBI franchise.



“I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC,” said Wolf in a statement on the Wolf Entertainment website. “All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”

President of scripted programming at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, Lisa Katz, added “We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season. A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team who are the masters of producing incredibly compelling television week after week.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, all three Chicago shows rank among the top 10 shows on broadcast TV this season (excluding sports) in both total viewers and adults 18-49, according to Nielsen’s seven-day ratings. Chicago PD is tied with Fox’s 911 as the top drama in the 18-49 demographic. This is the unicorn of all categories for advertisers.

Law & Order: SVU extends its record-setting run to a 25th season. The original Law & Order, which returned in 2021 after 11 years, will enter its 23rd season and most likely pass 500 episodes next year. L&O: Organized Crime will enter its fourth season.

Other series renewed by NBC/Peacock include La BreaMagnum P.I.Night Court and Quantum Leap.

The Dick Wolf Universe is alive and well in Chicago!
