Chicago Fire is preparing to film the first episode of Season 13 and the casting department is seeking background extras and standins.
A background extra plays a nonspeaking role in television or film productions. Extras can be seen in a variety of settings, such as bustling city streets, crowded restaurants, or lively parties, contributing to the overall atmosphere of the scene without drawing focus away from the main action. Their presence helps create a convincing backdrop.
A standin is a person who temporarily takes the place of an actor before actual filming begins, primarily for lighting and camera setup. This preparation ensures that when the principal actor steps in, the scene is ready for optimal shooting conditions.
Here is the announcement posted by the Chicago Fire Casting Department for the start up of Season 13:

Casting Alert! Searching for MALE LATINOS, 5’11 TO 6′, slim to medium build, dark hair or grayish hair, 40’S TO 60’S to work as a STAND IN (a standin is someone who is the same complexion, height, weight, and hair color who will work in place of the actor to light and camera block the set) on Chicago Fire. This is a paid position that will start on Friday, July 19th and film thru mid April.
To be considered you must be available for the whole season, if cast.
We have a wonderful crew and all the standins are professional and a great team.
We film Monday thru Friday with an occasional night shoot or Saturday filming (could be about three or four times during the season). We start as early as 5am and film a 12 hour day. A nice lunch is served about half way through the day.
The rate of pay to work as a STAND IN is $180 for 8 hours and time and a half after 8 hours. A check is sent about two weeks later.

Searching for CAUCASIAN GIRLS, 4’3″ TO 4’5″, BROWN LONG HAIR, SLIM TO MEDIUM BUILD, TO WORK two or three DAYS ON CHICAGO FIRE on our 1st episode. This is for a PHOTO DOUBLE extra non-speaking position. (A photo double is someone who matches the height and weight, hair color of the actor and who is used in place of the actor to film insert shots, or shots far away where we think it’s the actor.)
Casting children happen fast, if interested please send in ASAP!
These are paid positions. $170 for six hours and time and a half after six hours. We film for about 8 or so hours with children.
All children cast will need a JOAN PHILO WORK PERMIT. We can tell you how to obtain one.
The filming dates are TBD, but will be sometime next week, there will also be a wardrobe fitting at Cinespace studio.

SEARCHING FOR IDENTICAL TWINS – AGES 3 TO 5 YEARS OLD, EITHER a set of MALE twins OR a set of FEMALE TWINS, ALL ETHNICITIES.
We are searching for Identical Twins, ages 3 to 5 years old, to work a couple days (TBD) on Chicago Fire for our first episode.

These are non-speaking extra roles. We film twins and use both of them to act as if it’s one child. Children need Joan Philo work permits in order work as an extra. We can tell you how to obtain one.
These are paid extra roles. We will film in the Chicago Area.
We cast hundreds of babies, kids, and twins. We love having kid’s on set and we treat them very well. There is always a teacher, or nurse (with newborns) that are with the children.
To apply send a couple recent color photographs of your twins with their current hair length and height and weight. Include your twin’s names, the parent name, city, state, PHONE NUMBER, and clothing sizes, shoe also.
