Chicago Fire has incident with injuries while filming finale

With just two filming days left before wrapping the finale for Season 11, Chicago Fire had an incident near the set that caused two security guards to sustain injuries that were considered to be non-life-threatening.

Chicago Fire was filming in a South Loop location on Thursday, when 8 youths on small motorbikes and 4-wheelers breached a barrier while “performing stunts” on their bikes. Acting quickly, a security guard block their way and directed them to leave the area. One rider on a 4-wheeler struck and injured the guard, knocking the rider off the bike. The motorbikes quickly sped off but two security guards were injured during the incident and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The One Chicago filming locations are closely guarded by a team of professionals from the Embassy Security Group, that is mainly staffed by active and retired city, state and federal Law Enforcement Officers. The incident occurred inside the barrier protecting the set and it is not clear if the intruders had any intentions of disrupting the filming or were even aware of the filming.

This is a developing story that will be updated as we receive more information.

Chicago Fire is the last of the One Chicago series to wrap for the season, and filming is expected to be complete on Tuesday. The cast and crew has been seen around town all week filming stunts, explosions and car crashes so be prepared for an action packed finale and undoubtably a nail-biting cliffhanger.

As we announced earlier, Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) will once again join his Station 51 team for the finale and there is speculation about whether we will be seeing more of Casey in Season 12.

Chicago Fire‘s Season 11 finale airs on Wednesday, May 24, at 8 PM CST on NBC.
