Chicago-created spots dominate TV Awards’ finalists

Out of the 21 finalists in the upcoming Chicago International Television Awards, 16 spots came from Chicago-based agencies: eight spots from Leo Burnett; three from DDB Chicago, two from Pinnacle Advertising, Schaumburg and one each from Cramer-Krasselt, Digitas and Cavalry.

One finalist each from Iris New York, BBDO/New York, TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York and Innocean Worldwide, Seoul, Korea.

The Whitehouse edited nine of the finalist spots.

All 21 commercials aired recently on WTTW/11 where viewers voted to determine the winner of the WTTW Audience Awards. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony, Wednesday, April 20.

Award recipients are WLS/7 reporter, host and producer Janet Davis, the Chicago Legend award; Sun-Times columnist and WFLD/2 entertainment reporter, the Chicago Award; actress/director/playwright Regina Taylor, Career Achievement Award and HBO will receive the Commitment to Excellence in Television Productions Award.

At the AMC River East Theatres. Cocktails at 6 p.m., ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the April 20 ceremony, CITA presents screenings of TV shows Tuesday night, April 19. At 6:30, it’s the premiere episode of HBO’s hit “Veep.” At 8:30 p.m., it’s the first look at the first episode of Steve Conrad’s “The Patriot,” Amazon’s entrée into TV series that’s filming here.
