Jerry Vasilatos, Kira Macoun and Edward Heller of Chicago Corner are hosting the First Annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive at the Patio Theater on December 23rd, 2022 from 5-10pm.
Attendees can bring shelf stable canned food and new, unwrapped toys for FREE admission to the Patio Theater’s Holiday Double Feature Screening of the two Chicago Christmas Eve classics Solstice and Home Alone. Food and toys will be delivered on Saturday, December 24th to the Chicagoland Toy Drive and the Greater Chicago Food Depository for distribution to Chicago families in need.
Chicago Corner is Chicagoland’s Premiere Indie News show live-streaming twice a week on Youtube and Rokfin, presenting commentary and analysis of the news stories, politics, neighborhoods & culture that make Chicago the best city in the world. Hosted by Jerry Vasilatos, Kira Macoun and Edward Heller, the food and toy drive was in response to the crises facing so many families across the city not only during the holidays, but all year round.
“It’s our hope that by rallying our viewers and neighbors across Chicagoland to come out to this community outreach event, we could do some good as we’re always looking for solutions to the recurring challenges of poverty, food insecurity and homelessness on our program” Vasilatos said. “The motto for the event is “Help Us Help Others”.
The Chicagoland Toy Drive is a subsidiary project of ChiGivesBack, Inc. that was designed to collect toys for low-income and homeless children living in the Chicago area.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository’s network of food pantries and programs serve families that continue to experience food insecurity at high rates.
Chicago Corner will livestream to Youtube and Rokfin and interact with attendees delivering toy and food donations in the Patio Theater lobby before showtime!

A Christmas singalong led by Jay Warren on the Patio’s organ will precede the 7:00 screening.
