Cheers! “Shameless” drops first teaser for Season 9

“Let’s
Make
America
Gallagher
Again!”

Time to get those showers running because the sleaziest (and funniest) family on the South Side is prepping for its return. Yes, Frank, Fiona, Lip, Debbie and the rest of the Gallagher clan is back as Shameless moves into Season 9.

The mega-hit Showtime comedy, which is currently filming, dropped its first teaser.

The series stars William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum as a father (only in the biological) and daughter trying to keep a family together on Chicago’s South Side, which also includes all our favorites, Lip (Jeremy Allen White), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), Debbie (Emma Kenney), plus wee Baby Liam (Christian Isaiah).

There is also then the adopted next door family of Veronica (“Vee”) and Kev (Shanolah Hampton and Steve Howie).

One look at the 1:19 minute trailer and one can see, as most of the country has, that the Gallaghers will be going political. Frank tries to pass himself off as a Hispanic worker. Fiona decides to take a huge gamble and capitalize on the success of her new apartment. Lip tries to stay sober and Ian faces the consequences of his crimes as the Gay Jesus movement goes… south. And Carl, well Carl’s always up to something.

Let’s make America Gallagher again! Ha. For sh*ts and giggles, here is an additional more emotional trailer narrated by Rossum and Hampton:

Shameless Season 9 became as easy as Fiona used to be for Showtime when the bold comedy-drama posted its best ratings since season 3 during last year’s season premiere on Nov. 5. It debuted to 1.86 million viewers, that is a roughly 50 percent hike in viewership since the season 7 premiere.

The series can also probably attribute its rejuvenated popularity to previous seasons currently streaming on Netflix.

Season 9 will also welcome newcomers including Dan Lauria who plays Mo White, a disgraced ex-Congressman modeled after John Edwards, and soon to be “fixer-upper” project for Frank Gallagher. Ashley Romans will meanwhile play Alex, a tough construction worker who everyone keeps mistaking for a man.

Get the soap out, Shameless premieres September 9 at 9pm ET/PT only on Showtime.
