Cap Gun signs tabletop director Tyllie Barbosa

Commercial production company Cap Gun signs stunning tabletop director Tyllie Barbosa.

Tyllie Barbosa has been helping brands tell beautiful stories since she began her career as a still life photographer in 2005.

After fifteen years in the business working with top tier clients including McDonald’s, Google, Kerrygold, Quaker, Oscar Mayer, and Ziploc, video was a natural next step.

“Directing, to me was the perfect continuation of my journey in image making,” says Barbosa. “I thought it was such a luxury to have so many frames to tell a story… I was used to just one!  My work has always been about making an emotional connection through food, directing has pushed me to create in ways I hadn’t considered before. I love it!”

A mainstay in the Chicago commercial community, Tyllie has developed relationships with agencies including DDB, Leo Burnett, Mekanism, and TDA.  Tyllie’s upbringing in Bahia, Brazil permeated her artistic sensibilities with a deep appreciation for food, music, family and sunshine. She radiates Brazilian warmth and hospitality, and it manifests in both her work style and aesthetic.  Working from her 5,000 sf fully equipped daylight studio in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood, Barbosa shares that her philosophy about work is pretty simple.

“Establish a creative, efficient working atmosphere and collaborate with exceptional craftspeople. Talent paired with enjoyment creates truly beautiful photography.  Cap Gun is in the business for the same reasons I am – to produce amazing work, collaborate with people we respect, and have a great time doing it!  They are like the long lost family you wished you always had.  Their director roster is crazy talented, and they take their relationships very seriously while still knowing how to make everyone feel supported and inspired. That’s a great environment for me!”

“We are blown away by the beauty of Tyllie’s work,” says Cap Gun Managing Director Matt Abramson. “It’s been inspiring watching her translate her style from photography to motion, and we couldn’t be more excited to be on this journey with her.  She embodies all of the qualities we look for in an artist, strong creative vision, thoughtfulness and a genuine and friendly personality.  We can’t wait to see what she does next.”
