Calling all Midwest filmmakers! Apply by March 31st at 11:59 pm for the 2022 Community Builders Grant. The Community Builders Grant is the annual short-form film fund and production resources grant sponsored by Camera Ambassador.
The mission is to help build bridges between Midwest filmmakers and the community while elevating their production by arming them with the necessary tools to create. This grant supports artists with varying levels of experience, both to recognize accomplished individuals, as well as to provide opportunities for young and emerging artists.

Applicants enter this year for a chance to win $10,000 ($5,000 in cash and $5,000 in Camera Ambassador gear credit.) Previous winners have gone on to create award-winning works that screened at the Midwest Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, Cannes Indie Shorts, and more.
The grant is sponsored this year by Camera Ambassador, Yakkety Yak, Motion Source, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), and On the Set Headset.

Starting in April, our 20+ community judges will begin processing applications. After assigning a holistic rating of each project, the judges will then turn in their thoughts for a community-generated score for each application. After this first round of voting, ten semi-finalists will be announced by early May.
The Camera Ambassador team, in conjunction with a celebrity judge, then narrows down the pool to three remaining finalists. Finally, on May 27th, 2022, Camera Ambassador will be hosting the Pitch Event and Birthday Party hybrid event, where we will be celebrating Camera Ambassador’s 8th birthday and the top three applicants will pitch their projects. Each pitch will be recorded and hosted online for 48 hours and then the community will make the ultimate decision and vote on who advances to become the 4th annual Community Builders Grant Winner.
