Calabash partners with Ex Populus on Final Form

Final Form is the latest NFT game from web3 game development company, Ex Populus, San Francisco, to feature the animation of long-time creative collaborator, Chicago based Calabash

This time the studio handled all the creative duties for the promo launching Early Access Gameplay (viewed over 500,000 times in just a few weeks), and the initial launch trailer, with over 1 million views since December.

More details about the game can be found here.

This project marks the third collaboration between Ex Populus and Calabash in the Web3/Metaverse world, and with each new collaboration, Calabash has been challenged to raise the creative stakes. Final Form is the most significant example of that yet.

Calabash Animation, led by Creative Director Wayne Brejcha and Executive Producer Sean Henry, is the Chicago-based animation production studio known for its award-winning animation for the advertising and entertainment industries. Calabash Animation is perhaps best known for its creative character animation and development of some of America’s most beloved brand icons.

“The challenge was to simultaneously create the concept design, the promotional design and in-game assets, and to produce them simultaneously,” Sean Henry, Calabash Executive Producer says. “It was an extraordinary opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a complex project like this and have a strong hand in the game’s final look. We did some world-building with this, and it’s something we’re proud to have been a part of.”

This project comes on the heels of their work on two other Ex Populus web3 games, including Iron Pigeons, which was in partnership with boxing legend Mike Tyson.

“Calabash is an incredibly versatile animation studio that despite its strong roots in traditional television ads, gets what’s happening in the web3 gaming world,” Tobias Batton, CEO of Ex Populus says. “They’re able to deliver something different every time that continues to excite our users, and that’s no easy feat in today’s online world.”
