fundraising campaign
The Chicago Acting In Film Meetup NFP (CAFM) celebrates 12 years as a Meetup group with a brunch and fundraiser for everyone.
The 2019 CAFM Summer Social Brunch @ Foxhole Creative happens Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Foxhole Creative (2444 W. Montrose Avenue in Chicago). The event is open to the entire Chicago film production community and the general public.
Admission tickets are $20 online through Friday, August 23 at midnight, and $25 at the door on August 24. For tickets, click on this.
“It’s our first Summer Social during the daytime,” says CAFM Board President Steve Scholz. “We’re excited to bring the film community together for this brunch, and anybody else who loves films is welcome to join us. You just might win a special prize for movie fans!”
Helping actors co-mentor and connect
Since 2007, CAFM has helped Chicago’s film actors co-mentor each other and connect with the film production community at large. Along with their members-only monthly educational events, they have held public and industry events including their Holiday Hurrahs, CIMMFest panels, and an Actors Clothing Swap, and they have hosted “Happy Hours” with the Chicago Creatives Cocktail Party (CCCP).
CAFM also partnered with Community TV Network (CTVN) for a short film project, and has helped the Food For Friends program at Church of Our Saviour, plus other nonprofit charities like Care for Real, Hephzibah Children’s Association, and Peace On Earth Film Festival.
The 2019 brunch admission price includes food and beverages from 10:30 a.m. on, along with networking and community building opportunities. And all ticket buyers who purchase online by noon on Wednesday, August 21 will be entered to win a prize package from The Davis Theater and Carbon Arc Bar & Board: 4 Movie Passes and $40 in Carbon Cash.
“CAFM has held some fun Holiday Hurrah parties at Carbon Arc,” says Scholz, “and we’ll be back there again this December. We appreciate their generous donation. And since The Davis screens a mix of new releases and fun classics, this is the perfect prize for any moviegoer.”
For people who can’t attend the brunch, donations can also be made to the group’s “$20 For The 12th” Campaign. While this campaign doesn’t provide a ticket to the brunch, the donations are tax deductible, and every donor’s name will be shared on the CAFM social media channels and they’ll receive special recognition at the brunch. Proceeds from the event and the campaign will help fund the nonprofit group’s ongoing educational work, special industry events, and giving back outreach.
“We’re grateful to everyone who helped us reach our 12th Anniversary,” says Scholz. “So get ready to mix and mingle with some of the smartest working actors in Chicago. We’ll have delicious foods and that great prize from The Davis Theater and Carbon Arc if you enter early. We’d love to see you at Foxhole Creative this Saturday for brunch!”
