at CIFF was shot in his native Alton, Illinois

Illinois native Brian Jun’s “Steel City” is one of 16 films under the “New Directors Competition” heading at the Chicago International Film Festival.

The filmmaker’s $350,000-budgeted working class drama was filmed in 16mm in his Downstate home town of Alton, a former Mississippi River steel industry area, for nine months in 2004.
