Brian Cox, coming off of his critically acclaimed role of Logan Roy in the award-winning HBO series Succession, has lent his iconic voice to Ogilvy’s latest campaign, “Critics Welcome,” for the 59th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF).

This innovative campaign, which combines humor, wit, and drama, encourages Chicago audiences to embrace their inner film critic. And of course, a captivating video trailer narrated by Cox.

“Critics Welcome” draws inspiration from the thought-provoking, amusing, and awe-inspiring films featured at this year’s festival, which is scheduled to run from October 11th to October 20th, with the opening night on October 11th. Watch below:

The video, along with a range of assets, forms the foundation of the festival’s physical presence, inviting audiences to review various festival-related items, from posters to newsletters, banners to social media posts.

Ogilvy also released a collection of self-effacing posters for North America’s longest-running competitive film festival.

This marks the sixth consecutive year of collaboration between Ogilvy and CIFF. Last year’s campaign, titled “[Life, Subtitled],” had a similar tongue-in-cheek approach and featured voiceover by Rainn Wilson. For the team at Ogilvy’s Chicago office, working with CIFF isn’t just about celebrity talent but also about fostering the theater-going experience and building a sense of community among Chicagoans. The evolution of their work over the past few years highlights their commitment to creating an enduring campaign.
