Bonnie Hunt, Thea Flaum advise Women in Film to “go for it” at its first, successful Focus Awards

A teary Bonnie Hunt and an emotional Maggie Daley expressed their affection for each other at Women in Film’s Focus Achievement Awards Tuesday.

Besides their enthusiasm for Chicago, they have in common a top Northwestern Hospital oncologist, who treats the indefatigable Mrs. Daley and whom Hunt knew as an oncology nurse long before her rise 20 as TV star and filmmaker.

But for every emotional moment for Hunt as she talked about her large and loving family was a quip that delighted the nearly 250 guests in the Ritz-Carleton ballroom.

Daley and Hunt also shared being part of large families. Hunt is one of seven?all of whom and their mother was present?and Daley said she had six older brothers.

What Hunt gave to her patients, said Daley, was the healing gift of laughter, of which she is a great believer.
