It was another awesome night out at the AICP Meet. Drink. Talk. last night. This special event just keeps getting better and better, and the gatherings just keep growing with old friends and many new faces at each event.
Meet. Drink. Talk. is an event created exclusively for Midwest agency, commercial production, and editorial professionals to gather, relax and enjoy a chance to catch up.
It was time to hit the pause button from a hectic day, as friends, colleagues and co-workers gathered for a much needed social evening at the Tunnel on Kinzie.
The original Meet. Drink. Talk. event in 2011 was spearheaded by Tom Fletcher, formerly of Fletcher Cameras & Lenses, who was treasurer of AICP/Chicago at the time. Based on the success of the Chicago event it was repeated later that year in Detroit and was co-sponsored by AICE. The original event was so well received that it continued to be a regular annual event in Chicago.
Gatherings like this are so very important to our production community. Last night we saw faces from Optimus, One, Utopic, Keslow, Cutters, Dictionary, Noisefloor, Tessa, Essanay, BAM, and Camera Ambassador to name a few.
Although the room was literally bursting with happy people connecting with old and new friends, the talk of the night clearly had an undertow of unease about the pending WGA and DGA contract negotiations, and concerns about work slowing down as a result. For the most part, everyone managed to put their cares behind them and just enjoy the night.
