Big Brother is getting ready to turn back the clock, bend the rules, and send a new group of Houseguests into a summer where time is the big twist.
CBS announced the first 14 Houseguests for the upcoming season during a “Broveal” on the show’s official YouTube channel. The cast will move into the time trip-themed house during the 90-minute season premiere on Thursday, July 9, from 8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT, on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
Additional surprise Houseguests will be revealed during the premiere.
This season’s initial cast includes an MMA fighter, a rocket scientist, a game show host, the daughter of an ’80s pop star, and a Drag Race All Star, among others. The new group enters a house where, according to CBS, nothing is as it seems, every twist can rewrite the rules and time itself becomes part of the game.
And while the full cast will have fans picking sides quickly, Reel Chicago already has two Illinois-connected Houseguests to keep an eye on.
First up is Ashley Trail, a 24-year-old Chicago pop star from Alton, Ill., who now calls Chicago home. With a music background and hometown-state advantage, Trail could bring the kind of performance instincts, social energy and stage presence that play well in the Big Brother house. In a game built on alliances, timing and knowing when to command a room, a pop star may already understand the assignment.
Also representing Illinois roots is LaTrice Verrett, 57, originally from Kankakee, Ill., and now living in Maplewood, N.J. A boutique salesperson, entrepreneur, singer-songwriter and self-described “Inspiration-ista,” Verrett enters the house with a life résumé that could make her one of the season’s most interesting social players.
Verrett describes her mission as helping people feel great about themselves and recognize how the way they look and feel affects the world around them. She lives by what she calls her “5 F’s”: faith, family, finance, fashion and fitness.
A divorced mother of four after 23 years of marriage, Verrett brings plenty of real-world experience in relationships, parenting, and people-reading — not a bad toolkit for a house where emotional intelligence can matter as much as competition.
Her passion for “attainable fashion” also speaks to her personality. As she puts it, chic is only a clearance rack away. She designs shoes and handbags and believes an outfit is built like a building, from the ground up.
Verrett’s creative background extends to music as well. As a singer-songwriter, she has performed with the three-time Grammy-winning group Sounds of Blackness. She later met President Barack Obama, who told her he had Sounds of Blackness on his iPod and listened to the group daily.
That is not a bad story to bring into the Big Brother house.
Viewers will be able to follow the game beyond the broadcast episodes when Big Brother Live Feeds open Friday, July 10 at 9:00 PM, ET/6:00 PM, PT on Paramount+ and Pluto TV. For the first time, the feeds will also be available on the show’s official YouTube channel for a limited time after each Big Brother and Big Brother: Unlocked episode.

As always, Big Brother follows a group of strangers living together in a house outfitted with more than 100 cameras and 100 microphones, recording their every move 24 hours a day. Each week, one Houseguest is voted out, until the last remaining player wins the $750,000 grand prize.
Big Brother is produced by Emmy Award-winning producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment in association with Banijay Americas.
So yes, the house may be time-themed. But Reel Chicago will be watching to see whether Ashley Trail and LaTrice Verrett can make this summer their moment.
