Berkowitz’ “Polish Bar” feature shoots in March

BEN BERKOWITZ WILL DIRECT the long-planned feature “Polish Bar” in Chicago, starting in March. “We are committed to shooting and working in Chicago because of “so much talent and resources there,” says Berkowitz.

The story is about Reuben, a young middle-class Jew, who is trying to prove himself as a hip hop DJ while working for Polish gangsters at the local strip club.

Berkowitz collaborated on the screenplay with his Benzfilm partner, Ben Redgrave.

The two Bens relocated to L.A. in 2006 following the success of their first film, “Straightman,” using their leverage to co-produce the documentaries “Rockets Redglare” and Usama Alshaibi’s acclaimed “Nice Bombs.” (“Nice Bombs” screens at the Lake County Film Festival March.
