How did we miss this?
July 14th was National Nude Day in the United States and Bear Naked Granola, in collaboration with Leo Burnett Chicago and Gaia GPS from Outside, introduced an innovative and daring campaign.
The campaign aimed to make nude hiking more accessible by launching America’s first unofficial nude-friendly trail system.
Watch out for Burrs.
For those who relish experiencing the beauty of nature in the buff, navigating the legal and cultural landscape can be a daunting task. Laws regarding nudity vary from place to place, and societal biases can create obstacles for nude hikers, figuratively and literally, leaving them feeling “lost in the woods.”
To address these challenges, hikers can now enjoy Kellogg’s-owned Bear Naked Granola while confidently exploring nature au naturel. The Gaia GPS app, with over 300 trails listed, now provides information on which trails are either friendly or not friendly for nude hikers, helping enthusiasts find the right places to embrace their preferences.
What sets this initiative apart is the innovative use of a covert emoji code system, enabling nude hikers to review and mark trails for their suitability. This collaborative effort aims to provide a valuable resource for this niche community, allowing them to enjoy and explore nature while adhering to local laws. Factors like crowd levels, park rangers, shade availability, poison oak presence, and insect activity are considered when evaluating trail suitability.
Adding to the excitement, Bear Naked Granola has designed a unique hiker’s belt, available for a limited time at www.BearNakedTrails.com for $23.07. This specially engineered accessory cleverly conceals a bag of Bear Naked Granola, offering not only a convenient snack option to stave off hunger but also serving as a makeshift loincloth for hikers to cover up when necessary.
The initiative, known as the #HikeBearNaked challenge, empowers hikers to collectively create America’s first unofficial nude-friendly trail system, combining nature and granola in a bold and unique way.
This unconventional campaign celebrates the freedom of experiencing the great outdoors while embracing the spirit of National Nude Day. It aims to break down barriers and provide a practical guide for those who dare to hike in the buff.
Watch your berries.
