BBDO’s Bud Light spot wins a “Best” of Mobius Awards

Energy BBDO’s 2016 Super Bowl spot, the 90-second “Bud Light Coin” for ABinBev that aired in the game’s fourth quarter, was one of the eight Best of Show winners in the 2015 Mobius Awards announced March 5, in the Integrated Campaign/Food & Beverages category.

In the big-budget commercial, an unsuspecting real life man is dropped into a life-sized game of Pac-Man.  The game’s production alone should have received a heap of special awards.

To create the game, a set was built the size of an NFL football field, required 1,500 feet of continuous linear lighting to outline the top of the game alone and was shot with 45 cameras of various brands, types and sizes.

DJ White Shadow, who’s scored every Lady Gaga show for the past five years, remixed the original Pac-Man theme song for the commercial track.

multiple award-winning Fredrik bond directed for production company MJZ (producing a Payless Shoes spot at Essanay Studio & Lighting this week); editorial was Cut + Run, LA, and post was handled by Company 3 and Method, Chicago.

All Best of Show winners were also First Place Mobius Award winners.

Havas Worldwide Chicago also was a First Place winner for its “El Streaker” spot for Dish Latino, in the Craft/Technique: Use of Humor category, and was a Best of Show nominee. Creative directors were CCO Jason Peterson; GCD Bernie Gomez, art director, Baltazar Rosiles; Production company was Red Creek of New York.
