Banner unveils branding and leadership re-launch

Banner

Blackhawks TV spinoff
is a ‘little company
with a big heart’
that pumps
far beyond
the world of sports

Celebrating a decade of creating video content for clients such as the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, Google, Amazon, and Reddi-wip, Banner today announced the re-launch of its business under the direction of new leadership that expands the company’s capabilities in the areas of content strategy, production and post-production.

This announcement by Danny Wirtz, Chairman of Banner, includes the appointment of Patrick Dahl as President as well as the hiring of John Jung as CFO, Mike Dahl as Executive Producer, and Matt Jameson as Editor.

In conjunction with the announcement of the new team, Banner also unveils a new visual identity and logo, an updated website and a hallmark video titled, The Banner Story.

Evolving in a content-rich world
“This creative-led approach will help Banner continue to grow and evolve in this content-rich world we live in,” Wirtz said. “Patrick is an intuitive and creative leader that not only brings great ideas to life but has built a skilled team around him that has delivered some amazing work over the years.”

The original decision by the Wirtz Family to spin off Banner from “Blackhawks TV” with the Chicago Blackhawks was based on the premise that a profitable video business would allow the group to invest in capabilities and expertise that would benefit the Blackhawks organization — and other clients — through better quality content. Several years later, this thesis continues to hold true.

Building a stand-alone agency
“Banner simply started as the Blackhawks’ internal video team,” says President Patrick Dahl. “As an increasing base of sponsors began asking us to create video content outside the scope of their sponsorship agreements, we realized that there was an opportunity for us to build a standalone video production agency, one that would continue to create content for the Blackhawks while also working with other brands. Banner’s incredible team has evolved into a creator of cutting-edge content and, with today’s announcement, we are well-positioned to provide creative needs to our clients in the future.”

Installing new leadership
Jung, formerly VP of Strategy & Operations at Pitchfork, joins Banner as CFO. The Los Angeles native is an experienced leader in content strategy and video analytics and will be a key asset in building out new partnerships and verticals while ensuring Banner’s approach to content strategy is data-driven and omni-platform.

Mike Dahl brings 14 years of experience as a producer at leading advertising agencies (mcgarrybowen, Leo Burnett) and on the client side (Conagra Brands). At Banner, Mike Dahl will leverage his experience on both sides of the production and content table to position Banner favorably in an environment with an ever-increasing demand on quality content by overseeing commercial production and post-production while driving best-in-class practices.

Jameson, formerly of Whitehouse Post and We Are Unlimited, joins Banner’s talented post-production department as an Editor, bringing 13 years of commercial editorial experience.
