Aretha Tatum’s dramedy musical Seasoned – The Series now streaming on Tubi

Taroniah Rice, Natasha Hudgins, Tracy R Kincaide

Based on the short film, Seasoned, by creator/writer/producer Aretha Tatum, Seasoned – The Series, follows a group of midlife men and women who are determined to make the next 50 years their best.

The story centers around three women, Faith, Anita, and Grace (played by Tracy R. Kincade, Natasha Hudgins, and Taroniah Rice) who decide to form a singing group. Because they’re already over fifty, their decision has garnered some criticism from family and friends but at the same time, it has encouraged others to go after their dreams as well.

“The message of Seasoned is simply this: it’s NOT too late and you are never too old to live on purpose,” says Tatum. “I was 50 when I released my first film in 2010. Age is no excuse. We’re not old, we’re SEASONED.”

Seasoned made its debut at the London Lift-Off Film Festival and was an award winner at the 2022 Dubai Independent Film Festival. The series is distributed independently by HFD Films and the first five episodes are available on Tubi.

It’s gritty, it’s sweet, and it’s real. Here’s a clip from the show.

The music of Seasoned is also used to bring forth the message of the series. The songs are written and produced by Chicago independent songwriters and musicians. The songs were recorded for the series by the actors themselves who are also singers. The series aims to inspire others who are “RatedPG50+” to never give up. You’ve lived your life. Now, live your dream.

“This show is an enjoyable electric mix of music, comedy, and drama,” says Executive Producer, P.W. Sutton. “It will encourage you to try something that you have always dreamed of doing.”

Tatum is also the producer of Seasoned – The Showcase, a live event with musical performances and comedy skits featuring the music and cast of the series. More information about Seasoned can be found on their website seasonedtheseries.com
