Sandra Antongiorgi, a rising Chicago artist known for her thought-provoking visual art and World, Latin and Neo-Soul music will be headlining a concert February 24 at SPACE in Evanston, as part of the film screening of One City Films’ F*** Your Hair, a new documentary about a local Latin American-owned craft brewery that became a symbol of resistance against then-Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

The event will feature a special performance of the rock-infused “America La Hermosa” (America the Beautiful), which Sandra translated and recorded for the documentary produced by One City Films, a Chicago-based film production company.

F*** Your Hair chronicles the amazing story of 5 Rabbit Cervecería, a craft microbrewery just south of Chicago, that stood up to Donald Trump, risked nearly everything in the process, and inspired Americans with their bold and enduring act of protest.

An accomplished musician and visual artist, Sandra Antongiorgi’s unique sound derives from a marriage of influences in Latin, Caribbean, Rumba, Jazz, Rock and Neo-Soul. She recently headlined City Winery Chicago’s first ever female-fronted Latin music concert; released hard copies of her self-titled Spanish EP; opened and performed with gifted Jazz/Blues/Soul/Gospel singer Lizz Wright; and was selected as Music Artist-in-Residence at MACLA (Movimiento De Arte y Cultura Latino Americana) in San Jose, California, headlining three consecutive concerts. | Sandra’s collaboration with One City Films resulted in a Spanish version of America the Beautiful, which she created specifically for the film.
