On Thursday, February 13th, LA Lakers Forward-Center and NBA All-Star Anthony Davis paid a visit to his hometown Chicago high school to unveil his foundation’s inaugural ‘AD Lab’.
Now, students at the Rodney D. Joslin Campus of Perspectives Charter Schools can receive in hands-on, creative learning through the collaborative environment of the AD Lab.
AD Lab is the newest community outreach program of The Anthony Davis Foundation, a youth development program that provides at-risk students with the educational opportunities and resources.
Anthony Davis is a professional basketball player who averaged nearly 26 point per game as power forward and center for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2018-19 season.

Inside the Ad Lab
The newly designed space includes four different learning stations with 3D printing, music and recording tools and software, video creation capabilities complete with a green screen and robotic programming. It also included new wall graphics to represent the time Davis spent at the Rodney D. Joslin campus and his Chicago roots.
Students welcomed Davis with a high-five line as he entered the ‘AD Lab’ space and spent time exploring each of the learning stations. One was even able to create a new song on the music software that earned Davis’ approval and praise.
Chicago’s B96 DJ Kenzie K. served as the program’s emcee. He spoke at length with Davis about the importance of the space’s role at the school and took questions from students interested in learning more about the NBA All-Star player as a person, a student, and supporter of Perspectives Charter Schools.
Davis followed the ‘AD Lab’ unveiling by walking the halls of his old stomping grounds, visiting different classrooms, and talking with students.
