The four ad industry vets producing the romantic comedy, “The Ellen and Ted Show,” plan to draw talent from across Chicago’s creative industries as they move into production on the film this fall.
“The scope of the story will allow us to tap into the resources that the Chicago creative and production community has to offer,” says Beth Hoover.
The screenplay was written by Hoover and her husband and partner in boutique ad agency H&H.
“The Ellen and Ted Show” is the story of a down-on-her-luck actress in Wicker Park, who fakes a relationship with a cowboy-type for a role on the failing West Loop reality TV show “Who’ll Get Hitched,” much to the chagrin of her high-strung theater director boyfriend.
“It’s all about what lengths artists will go to practice their art,” Gary Hoover says. “We have a lot of respect for that.”
He described the tone of the reality show’s portrayal as “lovingly tweaked. It’s about last chances for all the people involved, not just the theater people but also on the reality TV side as well.”
