Tickets to Chicago Bulls will be part of the big raffle Dec. 13 at Chicago Acting in Film Meetup Group annual Networking Night and Holiday Fundraiser.
Actress Grace McPhillips organized the group when first moved to because she wanted to gather together experienced actors who could share with and learn from each other in a safe, supportive environment, she says.
Since then, membership has swelled to nearly 200 from just three and 39 monthly meetings have been held, which include panel discussions with representatives from area training centers, local casting agencies and the Chicago AFTRA/SAG office for the benefit of active professionals, who tend to work more than the assignments agents find for them.
“Our desire is to produce smarter Chicago actors so the entire production community will benefit,” McPhillips says. “We focus on independent film work and on-camera acting and we empower members with information, guidance and encouragement unlike any other local network.”
Everyone is invited to help celebrate the Chicago film community. The place is Chief O’Neill’s, 3471 N. Elston, 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $20 and include two raffle tickets, a drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres; drink specials all night.
Proceeds help benefit special events, such as guest educators and an actors’ showcase that’s in the works.
