Actor/filmmaker Celozzi’s Film Actors Workshop is the bridge for actors making the jump to L.A.

After nearly 20 years living and working in Los Angeles, actor/filmmaker Nick Celozzi moved back to the Chicago area last week, citing Chicago as a better place to live and raise a family.

The Celozzis have settled into a house in Palatine and the filmmaker will commute to the Coast as needed to attend to business there.

As one of his first activities here, and one close to his heart, Celozzi will offer ongoing acting instruction. “It’s designed to help Chicago actors springboard into the L.A. acting community,” he said.

“Because I work regularly in film, I know what directors out there are looking for.”

Called Nicholas Celozzi’s Film Actors Studio, the four and six week evening sessions will be held at Chicago Motion Picture Studio, helmed by Celozzi’s partners in the studio, Tony De Guide and Nick Kanari, at 800 W. Randolph.

“Chicago has a great tradition of turning out actors who believe in their craft,” said Celozzi. “My approach is based on the Meisner Technique, refined for today, about bringing your emotions to the surface and being even more intuitive.”

Celozzi said that promising actors, if the fit the part, could also audition for roles in movies he will be producing.

Currently he, DeGuide and Kanari are Kanari are associate producers on the feature, “20% Fiction,” with Robert DeNiro as executive producer and Barry Primus directing.

Celozzi is also in preproduction on “Shaker Boyz,” which he wrote, and slated for production in Canada.

Cost of both classes is $395; the four-week class meets twice a week; the six-week class once a week.
