Ace New York editor joins Red Car

New York editor Michael Coletta exchanges the Mad Ave scene for Michigan Ave – more accurately East Illinois St. — when he returns home Aug. 16 after a nine-year absence.

He joins Red Car from Nomad Editing, bringing with him that New York panache from having worked with bi-coastal A-list spot directors for the biggest agencies and the most famous brands.

Red Car managing director Craig Duncan characterizes Coletta as “a natural storyteller with impeccable comedic timing. He specializes in spots focusing on character-drive humor, although he’ll tell you that shaping narrative is his true passion.”

Among Coletta’s directorial following are Joe Pytka (Budweiser), TV hitmeister Allen Coulter (“Sex and the City,” “Six Feet Under”), Backyard Productions’ Rob Pritts (Motorola), Anonymous Content’s Christian Loubek (MasterCard) and Tool of North America’s Geordie Stephens (Verizon).

Coletta’s last editing job for Nomad was “a big production with a lot of visual effects” for Little Debbie bakery snacks that will air nationally in early September.

He edited the two-spot campaign for Curious Pictures director Steve Chase, who remembered Coletta from earlier award-winning Bud spots. The agency was Luckie & Company of Birmingham, Alabama, one of Coletta’s longtime clients.
