The 65th Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards is now accepting entries for its yearly contest.
The deadline for entries is Friday, June 16, 2023, 11:59 pm and the late deadline for entries is Friday, June 23, 2023, 11:59 pm.
Entering is done entirely online and information is available at chicagoemmyonline.org. A $30 fee is attached to late entries.
The regional awards will be presented in a ceremony scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 11th at the Swissotel, 323 E. Wacker Drive in Chicago. Nominations will be announced in late September. The regional Emmy Awards are organized by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).
Chicago/Midwest members come from all areas of the industry and includes Illinois markets: Chicago, Rockford, Peoria-Bloomington; Wisconsin markets: Milwaukee, Green Bay-Appleton, Madison, Wausau-Rhinelander and Indiana markets: South Bend-Elkhart.
Other regional NATAS Chapters around the U.S. judge the entries. Emmy entries are judged on the basis of three criteria: content, creativity and execution. Entries are judged solely against a standard of excellence with no entry competing directly against another. There are 82 categories to enter.
In addition, the chapter is accepting College Student Production Award entries with a final deadline of Friday, June 23, 2023. The College Awards will be presented during the Emmy ceremony on November 11th as well. Students from Colleges and Universities in the chapter’s jurisdiction may enter work that was produced as a class assignment, extra-curricular assignment or in conjunction with their academic experience.
The accounting firm, Wipfli, LLP, is tabulating the 2023 Chicago/Midwest Emmy and Chicago/Midwest Student Production Award results.
The Chicago Chapter was founded in 1958 after an expansion call by then National President, Ed Sullivan. The Chapter is one of the largest and most senior local chapters in the country, with a proud history of innovation and excellence in the field of broadcast television and beyond. The Chicago Chapter became regional in the early 1990s, becoming the Chicago/Midwest Chapter by expanding to include markets in two neighboring states.
