The 26th annual Irish Film Festival opens February 27

The Chicago Irish Film Festival has an especially exciting program this year that includes award winners, nuanced and interesting stories and films from first time filmmakers that cover everything from past Irish Presidents to future dreams of a united Ireland, and bog stories to immigrant experiences. 

Showcasing a curated selection of independent films that highlight the richness of Irish storytelling, the Chicago Irish Film Festival is set to captivate audiences from February 27 through March 9, 2025

Festival Overview

This year’s festival offers both in-theater and virtual experiences:

  • In-Theater Screenings: February 27–March 2, featuring a diverse lineup of films at various Chicago venues.
  • Virtual Screenings: March 3–9, accessible to viewers in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Highlights

The festival opens with the gala screening of Dead Man’s Money, attended by director Paul Kennedy and actor Ciarán McMenamin. The closing film, The Irish Question, will feature a discussion with director Alan Gilsenan. A special event includes the screening of Mrs. Robinson, followed by a Q&A with former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson.

Audiences can look forward to a variety of short films organized into thematic programs:

Festival-goers can choose from various ticket options:

  • All Access Package: Grants entry to all in-theater and virtual screenings from February 27 to March 9.
  • In-Theater Package: Covers all in-person events from February 27 to March 2.
  • Virtual Pass: Provides access to online screenings from March 3 to 9.
