NBC Universal offering two TV studios for rental

It wasn’t long ago that NBC Universal stages in the NBC Tower were bustling with weekday production of the Jerry Springer and Steve Wilkos’ syndicated TV shows.

That was prior to July, 2009, when NBC Universal transported/the popular shows to Stamford, Connecticut after the Illinois House was disinclined to modify the Illinois film tax credit to include talk shows. (“What! We’re giving Oprah a tax credit?” House members exclaimed at the time.)

NBC/Universal’s lobbying to include to TV talk shows delays passage of incentives till April

THE GOOD NEWS is that the Illinois Filmmakers Tax Credit has actually, finally, honestly passed the state Senate!! Now it’s due to go back to the House for final passage, long past the times this year when enactment was expected.

The bill goes back to the House for final approval — but House is taking a two-week Easter hiatus, which pushes the final enactment into April, the second quarter of the year.

Passage had been stalled by NBC/Universal, producers of the Jerry Springer show, which heavily lobbied Sen.
