“Upstarts” OKRP lands $50 million Big Lots! account

CALLING THEMSELVES “SCRAPPY UPSTARTS” the boutique agency O’Keefe, Reinhard & Paul (OKRP) – celebrating its first anniversary in March — landed the Big Lots! account which bills a big $50 million, following a review.

The Columbus, Ohio-based company is a closeout retailer with 1,525 stories in 48 states.  The agency’s first work for its new client will launch in early February.

Burnett and divisions win a colossal 74 ADDY Awards

The Chicago Ad Federation boasted it had 350 submissions for the recent ADDY Awards from local agencies and those entries were carefully considered by 25 top creatives from national pedigreed agencies. 

As a result of all this vetting, and no doubt based on the sheer volume of entries from Leo Burnett, it should have been no surprise that the Publicis giant had a colossal haul of 62 awards, including six out of the seven ADDY Bests.

$10,000 check for Malachi Leopold’s Sudan doc

MALACHI LEOPOLD IS BOUND FOR THE SUDAN, thanks to a $10,000 grant he received in order to make the expenses of the trip. He departs April 5 for a full month of shooting a documentary centered on one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, who returns to his native village after a 22 year separation from his parents.

Leopold received the $10,000 check April 1 from the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees based in Geneva, Switzerland.

He will be accompanied by DP Ian Issitt and two New York producers.
