‘Sport Changes Everything’
commercial
Chicago sports, culture, and attitude come to life in a new spot for Nike’s Sport Changes Everything campaign by Wieden+Kennedy.
Titled, Chicago Style, the minute-long commercial packs a no-nonsense series of references and metaphors into a food order at a classic Windy City hot dog joint.
After calling for a Chicago-style dog, a Ditka-looking worker (portrayed by Chicago’s very own Don Forston, rep’d by Big Mouth Talent) uses the mic at the counter to describe the proper condiments, athletic achievements, and tireless spirit of those who live in the City of Big Shoulders. His fast-moving stream of detail is choreographed with quick-cuts of Chicagoans and footage of Bulls, Bears, Cubs, and White Sox highlights.
It ends with the campaign slogan, Sport Changes Everything.

CHICAGO STYLE NIKE
Sport Changes Everything
The launch of Chicago Style is a component of Nike’s Sport Changes Everything integrated campaign, which highlights athletes known for “using their respective sports to change the narrative of the city.”
Among them are three Windy City residents who appear briefly in the Chicago Style spot and also star in online commercials of their own.
Monyett Crump, founder of REVEAL Dance, stars in a customized template of the original spot that includes clips of headlines announcing his knack for “using dance to bring the city together.” In this version, the guy at the counter declares, “let me get extra vision through a visionary that can’t be stopped.”

McKinley Nelson describes how he transformed a charity basketball game into Project sWISH, a program dedicated to “changing lives off the court” that he hopes to expand into a citywide basketball league during a one-minute mini-doc.
Ixhelt Gonzalez, a member of the US women’s national wheelchair basketball team, is the star of a Chicago Style online spot that tells viewers to “hold the pity” while praising her for being, “home-grown, but respected worldwide.”
Bringing the campaign directly to the Windy City, Nike also transformed Lulu’s hot dogs into a pop-up diner called, Nike’s World Famous Chicago Style, at 1000 S. Leavitt, and launched a corresponding campaign website.
Wieden+Kennedy seems to have nailed the whole Windy City thing except, as some have called out on social media, for hiring Chicago-based production and post houses.
