West Michigan continues to attract non-stop production ? commercial shots as well as the flow of feature films.
The area’s shores, scenery and familiar landmarks were front and center in a recent dusk-to-dark shoot for the West Michigan Chevrolet Dealers Association. The visuals of primarily Grand Rapids and Grand Haven, captured by a crew of 22, will be used in future Association commercials.
The shoot was produced by Association’s agency, Jay Advertising, Inc. of Rochester, New York, the retail arm of McCann Worldgroup, and its production arm, The Studios of Linden Oaks.
“The purpose of projecting West Michigan was to give the ads a feeling they were produced in their own regional areas, so local consumers can connect and really identify with the images and with this product,” said Mark Fletcher, Jay Advertising’s senior producer who also directed the day’s action.
Fletcher said he obtained his camera package from Detroit and all the rest of the crew — lighting, grips and gaffers — came from Grand Rapids, a result of the city’s on-going crew training.
“We shot extensively in Grand Rapids and Grand Haven, which was driven by the Association’s choice and they’re pretty happy right now,” Fletcher added.
