DAILY VIDEO UPLOADS and blogs document Young & Rubicam/Chicago’s “Craftsman Across America” promotion, featuring “one man, one mower and 3,300 miles,” as Lucas Van Engen rides a Sears Craftsman 54-inch Kohler Riding Courage Garden Tractor from L.A. to Times Square.
Van Engen, who started his endurance test May 25, travels on the $3,500 26-horsepower, gas-powered V-twin engine tractor with overhead valves at a top speed of 7.5 miles per hour.
Along the way, actor Van Engen, a South Bend native who currently lives in New York, will make stops at eight locations across the U.S. to present a $5,000 check to local Parks Department as part of the Craftsman Across America promotion.
He will pull into the Indianapolis area Aug. 2 and end his trek in New York on Aug. 24.
