SOL FX DESIGN’S first project for the Cartoon Network was creating the opening title sequence for its first live action series, “UnNatural History.” The (so far) 8-episode series is geared towards tweens and features a young, dynamic cast, capers and offbeat locations.
The Chicago company was asked to pitch ideas against tough bi-coastal competitors by the New York-based network in February, says Sol Design’s Emmy-winning creative director Chris Markos, also the CD on the project. Sol FX won the competition for the 20-second opening and began the creative process in March.
Sol Design credits: Neal Cohen, executive producer; Chris Anderson, lead designer, Thuc Nyugen, director of CGI, Justin Reed, CGI animator and offline editor Betty Jo Moore.
“UnNatural History” airs Sundays at 7 p.m. CDT.
Recent Sol FX effects/design/motion graphics commercial clients are Sears, Secret deodorant and Toyota. See
