The 39th annual Television Critics Association (TCA) awards were announced with and FX’s The Bear and HBO’s Succession earning top honors.
The Bear received recognition as the Outstanding New Program and also took home the award for Achievement in Comedy. Succession won the prestigious Program of the Year prize, marking its third overall achievement in the drama category, having previously won in 2022 and 2020.
Rhea Seehorn from AMC’s Better Call Saul won the Individual Achievement in Drama for the final season of the show, while Natasha Lyonne received the Individual Achievement in Comedy for her role in Peacock’s Poker Face.
Other scripted winners included Netflix’s Beef for Movies/Miniseries/Specials and Disney+’s Ms. Marvel for Family Programming. Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson repeated its win for Variety/Talk/Sketch Show, and the Freevee breakout Jury Duty was awarded Best Reality Program.
The TCA Awards are voted on by more than 200 member journalists from the U.S. and Canada. The ceremony also honored Mel Brooks with the Career Achievement Prize and paid tribute to The Carol Burnett Show with the Heritage Award.
Due to Hollywood’s labor battles, the awards were released online after the cancellation of the summer session at the semi-annual press tour. HBO and FX tied for the lead in wins with Disney+ and Netflix, each earning two wins apiece.
