FX and Hulu’s The Bear is back at the table, and it’s serving more than just chaos in the kitchen. The critically acclaimed Chicago-made series scored 13 Emmy nominations for its third season, reaffirming its status as the crown jewel of Chicago television.
Despite a divisive season that drew passionate responses from critics and fans alike, The Bear remains a dominant force in Emmy buzz. The half-hour dramedy picked up nominations in all the major categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor (Jeremy Allen White), Lead Actress (Ayo Edebiri), Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Supporting Actress (Abby Elliott). Guest star nominations went to Bob Odenkirk, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jon Bernthal, and Olivia Colman.
Ayo Edebiri also landed her first-ever directing nod for the emotional Season 3 standout episode “Napkins,” which spotlighted Tina’s backstory and featured a powerful performance from Liza Colón-Zayas—herself nominated again for Supporting Actress after a win last year.
In total, The Bear has now earned 49 Emmy nominations and 21 wins across its first three seasons, an extraordinary feat for a show that burst onto the scene with little fanfare and quickly became a cultural juggernaut. Filmed entirely in Chicago, the series is praised not just for its white-hot performances and kinetic pacing, but for its deeply authentic depiction of the city’s culinary and working-class heartbeat.
While Season 4 (see our review) recently dropped on Hulu, Emmy voters are focused on the highs of Season 3, which pushed characters to the brink while doubling down on ambition, anxiety, and artistry. From Sound Mixing to Picture Editing, the technical precision of The Bear has never been sharper.
