Talent agency Shirley Hamilton, Inc. the oldest film-related business around at the 45 year mark

When talent maven Patricia Stevens was going to marry used car mogul Mad Man Muntz, she needed someone to take over her Saturday night TV show while she was off on her honeymoon.

She called young talent agent Shirley Hamilton into her office (Shirley recalls Patricia was sitting under a hair dryer) and gave her the assignment.

Shirley knew nothing about putting on a TV show, but nonetheless rose to the occasion, and like the sitcom this story sounds like, ultimately became director of the agency.

Patricia Stevens is a faded memory while Shirley Hamilton has prevailed tp celebrate ots 45th anniversary this month.

Shirley Hamilton, Inc. (SHI) has the distinction of being not only the oldest company in the film business, but one that remains under the founder’s ownership.

Shirley Hamilton became a legend in the talent business by diligent non-stop hard work, nights and weekends included. Many’s the night she sat in a film studio after hours with a new actor she wanted to introduce to a busy director. Actors and clients became used to her late night phone calls about auditions or call changes.
