A six-part comedy web series, produced by three commercial filmmakers of Take-Take-Take Productions, premieres today and a new episode released released every Wednesday through Aug. 17 at 1 p.m.
The series, “Winner or Loser?” is the collaboration of writer / producer Tony Mendoza, a script supervisor; director Logan Hall, who is represented by One at Optimus and line producer Holli Hopkins McGinley.
Based on Mendoza’s prolific blog of the same name, the series follows Tom, played by improv actor Bill Boehler, a struggling musician and delivery driver, as he navigates the daily obstacles of a dead end job to discover what his life’s arc could be.
Mendoza, who is also an improv actor, lives in both Chicago and LA. Hall is currently directing his first feature film, “The Animator” and McGinley, who produced the feature “All My Friends are Funeral Singers,” which competed at Sundance and SXSW, is currently developing her second feature, scheduled to shoot next spring.
Working on a shoestring budget, the 60-second to 8-minute episodes were shot weekends throughout 2014. Megan Donnelly, Dan Fisher and Chris Rejano did the camera work and Erick Law of Optimus edited.
The series co-stars a diverse cast of Chicago and LA actors, including Colleen Doyle, Rebecca Sohn, Neal Dandade, Lorena Diaz, Wendy Mateo, Anthony Irons, Sue Salvi, Thea Lux and Butch Jerenic.
The comedy can be seen on Tumblr and Facebook and is also headed for Vimeo and YouTube.
