Roger Ebert’s TV show debuts in January

Roger Ebert returns to television next January with a new weekly half-hour show, “Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies,” produced by Chaz and Roger Ebert, and featuring two co-hosts.

It will air on WTTW and be syndicated to PBS stations by WTTW National Productions. “I believe that by returning to its public television roots, our new show will win better and more consistent time slots in more markets.

Co-hosts of the new show are Christy Lemire of The Associated Press and contributing critic Elvis Mitchell of NPR and former The New York Times film critic.

Ebert will have his own segment on the show called “Roger’s Office,” during which he will use his computer voice to review new movies or talk about the state of film.

Occasional contributors will be popular film bloggers Kim Morgan of L.A. who specializes in film noir and classic cinema and writes for MSN and the Huffington Post, and Omar Moore, an attorney of San Francisco, who publishes reviews, essays and video essays.

The show’s pilot was directed by Scott Dummler of Luminair and featured all the critics. It was taped at Tribeca Flashpoint Academy on a set designed by Mary Margaret Bartley.

“We are in the process of scouting a location in the city to shoot the show, and we are happy to report that there are many full service studios with professional staffs to choose from,” said Chaz Ebert.
