Optimus welcomes Zach Scheitlin home, as Senior Audio Engineer

Creative talent brings his expertise and passion for sound design, recording and mixing to the reinvigorated audio department

With offices in both Chicago and New York, Optimus and ONE continues its growth, announcing the return of Zach Scheitlin to Optimus.

“It’s a return to a setting and people that are innately familiar,” said Scheitlin. “I started at Optimus as a 20-year-old intern and spent my formative professional years in this nurturing and collaborative space. After a very fulfilling year away at FCB/internal, I am excited to be back.”

“We are so happy to welcome Zach back into the fold at Optimus, in his new role leading the department,” said Brian Hrastar, Optimus EP/Managing Director. “Zach is thoughtful and soft-spoken, but also has a clear creative viewpoint and sound instincts.”

Scheitlin has mixed for brands including Adidas, Brita, Coors, Disney, GE, Jack Daniel’s, Nissan, Samsung, SCJ and Tropicana, and he partners frequently with Barkley, Dentsu, FCB, General Mills, Havas, Ogilvy and Whirlpool.

“Zach is an amazing collaborator, and he elevates everything he works on,” said Randy Palmer, Optimus Editor/Partner/Owner. “His talent, passion and personality are such a great fit with Optimus and having watched his career progress over the years, we feel fortunate to have him back.”

“I’m looking forward to broadening our services and client base,” continued Scheitlin. “Advertising work will continue to be our primary focus, but we are well positioned to take on sound projects in many other sectors—from film to episodic to podcasts and even product sound design. Every piece of video content benefits greatly from proper attention to its sonic component and we can do it all.”

“Zach’s talent as a sound designer and mixer is a given. He is both and more,” said Angelo Valencia, Optimus Managing Editor/Partner. “What makes Zach stand out is that he goes above and beyond to always get the best work out of every session.”

Scheitlin brings a creative bent to all his work, which is enriched by the many side projects he takes on with peer collaborators. Hailing from the tiny town of Mediapolis (Iowa), he is a graduate of Flashpoint Chicago. In his free time, he enjoys live comedy shows, working on set with indie filmmakers and is an absolute beast of a bowler (and would love to talk with you about it).

“Zach is kind, easily approachable and always accommodating,” said Optimus EP Tracy Spera. “He is a joy to work with and the ultimate team player.”

Sheitlin is adept working in a wide range of genres—from comedy/dialogue to sound design-driven to emotional docu-storytelling—and he welcomes the unique challenges in each.

“It is always fun to work on a campaign that allows you to throw everything you have at it and collaborate with creatives who are open to exploring together,” said Scheitlin. “That’s where the magic happens.”
