NBC has officially confirmed that a three show One Chicago crossover event will air in March, bringing together Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. for a coordinated three hour storyline.
The crossover will premiere Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 8 pm Central, and will unfold across all three series in order. Chicago Fire will air first at 8 pm, followed by Chicago Med at 9 pm, and Chicago P.D. at 10 pm. NBC confirmed that the episodes are designed to be viewed in that sequence.
The crossover format allows storylines and characters to move organically across all three series.
The official logline: Firehouse 51 is called to an airfield when a passenger jet suddenly goes silent mid air, triggering a high stakes emergency. What begins as a rescue response quickly reveals a much larger and more dangerous situation, with consequences that extend far beyond the runway and place countless lives in jeopardy.
Chicago Fire producer Reza Tabrizi told NBC Insider that the writers rooms maintain close collaboration to support that continuity:
“We really like when we can have characters have storylines across the shows. The writers rooms are close to each other and there are conversations going on all the time. As far as what is happening with the characters and how we can engage characters from other shows in each show, that has been ongoing since the beginning. Even as showrunners have changed, the communication between the writers rooms has only gotten stronger.”
Large scale crossovers have become increasingly rare due to production complexity and scheduling demands. For the One Chicago franchise, these crossover events highlight the shared world that has sustained the universe for more than a decade, giving viewers the rare opportunity to see one story unfold across all three series.
Viewers who miss the One Chicago Crossover live broadcast will be able to stream the episodes the following day on Peacock. NBC has emphasized that episodes should be viewed in the same order as broadcast: Chicago Fire, then Chicago Med, then Chicago P.D.
