What could be more Chicago than Da Bears, winter weather, and a billboard talking trash on the Kennedy? As the Chicago Bears prepare to face the LA Rams in this weekend’s playoff matchup, Old National Bank is doing what it does best: saying exactly what every Chicagoan is thinking, in giant letters over the expressway.
Working with longtime creative partner Schafer Condon Carter (SCC), Old National Bank flipped its iconic Kennedy Expressway billboard today to welcome the Rams to town with a message locals immediately understood:
“Hey LA, we dare you to lick the goal post. Welcome to Chicago.”
The line nods to the expected frozen conditions, Bears lore, and Chicago’s long-standing belief that winter is a competitive advantage. As the Rams’ team bus rolled into the city, the billboard was there waiting. No subtlety required.
Old National Bank owns the high-profile billboard space overlooking the Kennedy and updates the messaging daily, allowing the brand to move at the speed of culture. In the past, the bank has used the board to congratulate Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on their engagement and even celebrate the naming of Chicago’s own Pope Leo. This weekend, football and frost took priority.
The playoff message will be followed by another timely switch on Sunday, continuing the bank’s tradition of hyper-local, hyper-relevant communication that feels more like a neighbor talking trash than a brand chasing headlines.
In a city where weather, sports, and attitude collide, Old National Bank once again proves it knows exactly where it lives, and who it’s talking to.
