Fletcher Chicago, which started out 21 years ago as a camera sales company, has sold its camera and accessories sales division to Abel Cine Tech of New York and Burbank, one of the country’s biggest camera dealers, effective March 25.
Fletcher’s inventory was shipped the same day to Abel Cine’s New York headquarters.
Abel president Pete Abel said he is thrilled about the sale. “Fletcher and our company have always respected each other, and that was the basis of working together,” a sentiment VP Tom Fletcher echoed.
Kari Hess, Head of Midwest Operations, who had a 13-year tenure with Fletcher, will make a seamless transition to Abel as Production Sales, Midwest Region, starting April 1.
“Through this negotiation,” said Abel, “we got to know Kari. It was very clear to us that her first priority was her clients, and knowing they would be taken care of by us.”
Until a new location is established, which, Abel said they will focus on after NAB in mid-April, Hess will work out of her home. (See numbers below). “I am tired, but psyched, and ready to swing in the market,” said Hess.
